Scheme and Syllabus
Jharkhand Civil Judge (Junior Division) Examination

Scheme of Examination

It is a three stage examination.
(a) Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
(b) Main Examination (Written Type)
(c) Personality Test (Interview)/ Viva-voce Test
 

Syllabus for Preliminary Examination

It will consist of only one paper carrying 100 marks. Time allowed 2 hours.

  1. General English
  2. General Knowledge (including Current Affairs)
  3. Civil Procedure Code, 1908
  4. Criminal procedure Code, 1973
  5. Indian Evidence Act, 1872
  6. Indian Contract Act, 1872
  7. Indian Penal Code, 1860
Syllabus for Mains Examination

The Main Examination shall be of four Papers of 100 Marks (Duration 3 hours for each paper) each comprising of the questions on the following Subjects:--

Paper-I:
  1. Procedural Law (The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 and The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973)
  2. The Indian Penal Code, 1860
  3. The Indian Evidence Act, 1872
  4. The Limitation Act, 1963
Paper-II:
  1. The Contract Act, 1872
  2. The Sales of Goods Act, 1930
  3. The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881
  4. The Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996
  5. The Transfer of Property Act, 1882
Paper-III:
  1. The Hindu Law and Mohammedan Law
  2. Rent Control Law
  3. The Specific Relief Act, 1963
  4. Jurisprudence
Paper-IV: (Language)

Hindi & English (Essay, Precis writing, Translation & Paraphrase) 


Interview/ Viva-voce

It will carry 100 marks.The Final Selection List shall be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the Main Examination and the Viva-voce Test both.
