Chhattisgarh Civil Judge (Entry Level) Examination


Scheme of Examination

The Examination shall be conducted in three stages, namely,
(i) Online Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
(ii) Main Examination (Written Type)
(iii) Viva-voce (Interview)



Online Preliminary Examination

The Online Preliminary Examination shall be of the duration of two hours consisting 100 marks of 100 objective-type questions from the following:

1. Indian Penal Code
2. Code of Civil Procedure
3. Code of Criminal Procedure
4. Indian Evidence Act
5. Constitution of India
6. Transfer of Property Act
7. Contract Act
8. Limitation Act
9. The Chhattisgarh Rent Control Act, 2011
10. Court Fees Act
11. Specific Relief Act
12. Registration Act
13. Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code
14. The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881
15. The Chhattisgarh Excise Act, 1915 



Main Examination (Written)

The Main Examination shall be of the duration of three hours consisting 100 marks of questions from the following:

(i) Framing of issues and writing of Judgement in Civil Cases (Maximum Marks- 40)
(ii) Framing of charges and writing of Judgement in Criminal Cases (Maximum Marks- 40)
(iii) Translation:-
                    (1) English to Hindi (Maximum Marks- 10)
                    (2) Hindi to English (Maximum Marks- 10)



Viva-voce (Interview)

The Maximum Marks for Viva-voce would be 15.

Scheme of Examination

The Competitive examination for recruitment in the Civil Judge Cadre shall consist of :-
  1. Screening Test (Objective Type)
  2. Written Examination (Subjective Type) (80 Marks)
  3. Viva Voce (20 Marks)
Syllabus

In the selection process, the proficiency and knowledge of applicants in the following subjects will be tested-

(a) Substantive Laws: Comprising of Indian Contract Act, Hindu Marriage Act, Hindu Succession Act, Easements Act, Specific Relief Act, Limitation Act, Transfer of Property Act, Indian Penal Code, Negotiable Instruments Act, Protection of women from Domestic Violence Act, Registration Act, Indian Stamp Act, A.P. Buildings (Lease, Rent & Eviction) Control Act

(b) Procedural Laws: Comprising of Civil Procedure Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Evidence Act, Civil Rules of Practice and Criminal Rules of Practice

Viva Voce

In the Viva Voce, the academic knowledge of a candidate, his communication skills, his tact and ability to handle various situations in the Court, will be tested.

Rajasthan Judicial Service Examination
(for Recruitment in the Civil Judge Cadre) 

Scheme of Examination

The Competitive examination for recruitment in the Civil Judge Cadre shall consist of :-

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
  2. Written Main Examination (Subjective Type)
  3. Interview
Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination shall be an objective type examination in which 70% weightage will be given to the subjects prescribed in syllabus for Law Paper-I and Law Paper-II, and 30% weightage shall be given to test proficiency in Hindi and English language. The marks obtained in the preliminary examination shall not be counted towards the final selection.

The maximum marks for preliminary examination shall be 100. The duration of preliminary examination shall be 02 hours and number of questions to be asked in preliminary examination for Civil Judge Cadre shall be 100. There shall be no negative marking for wrong answer in the preliminary examination.

Syllabus for Preliminary Examination:

Law: Same as prescribed for Law Paper- I & II for Main Examination
Hindi Proficiency:
1. शब्द रचना: संधि एवं संधि-विच्छेद, समास, उपसर्ग, प्रत्यय।
2. शब्द प्रकार: (क) तत्सम, अर्द्धतत्सम, तद्भव, देशज, विदेशी। 
(ख) संज्ञा, सर्वनाम, विशेषण, क्रिया, अव्यय (क्रिया विशेषण, सम्बन्ध सूचक,विस्मयबोधक निपात)
3. शब्द ज्ञान: पर्यायवाची, विलोम, शब्द युग्मों का अर्थ भेद, वाक्यांश के लिए सार्थक शब्द, समश्रुत भिन्नार्थक
शब्द, समानार्थी शब्दों का विवेक, उपयुक्त शब्द चयन, संबंधवाची शब्दावली।
4. शब्द शुद्धि।
5. व्याकरणिक कोटियां: परसर्ग, लिंग, वचन, पुरुष, काल, वृत्ति (Mood), पक्ष (Aspect), वाच्य (Voice).
6. वाक्य रचना।
7. वाक्य शुद्धि।
8. विराम चिन्हों का प्रयोग।
9. मुहावरे/ लोकोक्तियाँ।
10. पारिभाषिक शब्दावली: प्रशासनिक, विधिक (विशेषतः)
English Proficiency:
1. Tenses
2. Articles and Determiners
3. Phrasal Verbs and Idioms
4. Active & Passive Voice
5. Co-ordination & Subordination
6. Direct and Indirect Speech
7. Modals expressing various concepts-
(Obligation, Request, Permission, Prohibition, Intention, Condition, Probability, Possibility, Purpose, Reason, Companions, Contrast)
8. Antonyms and Synonyms


Main Examination

The Main Examination shall consist of following subjects :-
(I) Law Paper-I 100 Marks
(II) Law Paper-II 100 Marks
(III) Language
(a) Paper-I Hindi Essay 50 Marks
(b) Paper-II English Essay 50 Marks

Law Paper (I):
Duration : Three Hours
Maximum Marks : 100

Code of Civil Procedure,1908, The Constitution of India, Indian Contract Act, 1872, The Indian Evidence Act, 1872, The Limitation Act, 1963, The Specific Relief Act, 1963, The Transfer of Property Act, 1882, Interpretation of Statues, The Rajasthan Rent Control Act, 2001, Order/Judgment Writing.
[Paper is designed to test the practical knowledge of the candidates in civil law and procedure e.g. drafting, pleadings, framing issues and writing out judgments etc. in civil cases.]

Law Paper (II):
Duration : Three Hours
Maximum Marks : 100

The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, The Indian Evidence Act, 1872, The Indian Penal Code, 1860, The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Chapter XVII), The Probation of Offenders Act, 1958, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, Framing of Charge /Judgment Writing.
[Paper is designed to test the practical knowledge of the candidates in criminal law and procedure e.g. framing charges and writing out the judgments etc. in criminal cases.]

Language:
(a) Paper-I Hindi Essay-
Duration : Two Hours
Maximum Marks : 50

Essay Writing in Hindi Language.

(b) Paper-II English Essay-
Duration : Two Hours
Maximum Marks : 50

Essay Writing in English Language.


Interview/ Viva Voce

Maximum Marks : 35
The marks so awarded shall be added to the marks obtained in the written test by each candidate.

Kerala Judicial Service Examination

Scheme of Examination

The examination will be held in three stages:
(1) Preliminary Exam
(2) Main Exam
(3) Viva-voce

Preliminary Examination

The preliminary examination will consist of one paper of objective type screening test based on the syllabus given below containing 100 multiple choice questions, each question carrying two marks. Maximum marks will be 200 and one mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. The duration of the preliminary examination will be two & half hours.

The Kerala Judicial Service Examination (Main) will consist of 4 papers of written examination each carrying 100 marks at a total of 400 marks, based on the syllabus given below and viva voce carrying 50 marks. The prescribed duration for each paper will be three hours.

Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination (Screening Test) shall consist of the Objective type questions of 100 marks out of which 90 marks will cover General Knowledge, Aptitude, English, Constitution of India, Code of Civil procedure, Criminal Procedure Code, Transfer of Property Act, Indian Contract Act, Indian Penal Code, Indian Evidence Act, Law of Torts and remaining 10 marks to test the proficiency in the official language (s) of the State of Assam.
