  • Appointed as Additional Judge of Bombay High Court on 23rd January, 1978
  • Appointed as Permanent Judge of Bombay High Court on 28November, 1978
  • Appointed as Chief Justice of Bombay High Court on 15th January, 1994
  • She became the first woman Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court
  • Transferred as Chief Justice of Kerala High Court on 21April, 1994
  • Elevated as the Supreme Court Judge on 8th November, 1994
  • She retired on 27th August, 1999

  • She started practicing in 1968.
  • Her area of practice were civil, revenue, labour and constitutional matters in Calcutta High Court.
  • Appointed as justice of Calcutta High Court on 06 August 1990.
  • Appointed as the Supreme Court Judge on 28 January 2000.
  • Justice Pal has delivered many critical judgments in famous cases.
  • She has written on a number of human rights issues.
  • She retired on 03 June 2006.

Delhi Judicial Service (DJS) Examination 2010

THE HIGH COURT OF DELHI will hold Delhi Judicial Service Examination in two successive stages:-
(i) Delhi Judicial Service Preliminary Examination (objective type with 25% negative marking) for selection for the main examination, and
(ii) Delhi Judicial Service Main Examination (Written) for selection of candidates for calling for Viva voce.
Application form including the DJSE Registration Form can be obtained from the Filing Counter of Delhi High Court, or by sending, at his own risk, a self addressed envelope of 38 cm X 25 cm size with postage stamp of Rs. 60/- affixed on it along with Demand Draft (non-refundable) of Rs. 600/- for General Category candidates and Rs. 100/- for Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Physically Handicapped candidates in favour of Registrar General, Delhi High Court, New Delhi, payable at New Delhi, in an envelope addressed to Joint Registrar (Vig.), Delhi High Court, New Delhi, superimposed with words in bold letters, “DJS EXAMINATION 2010”.

  • Became Permanent Judge of High Court of Kerala on 14.03.1984.

  • First woman Judge of Supreme Court of India.

Detailed information about the pattern of the selection process etc. are given in the instructions annexed with the Application Form. Application form including the DHJSE Registration Form can be obtained personally on payment of Rs. 1,000/- each for General Category candidates and Rs. 200/- for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes candidates.
